Getting a Library Card
Any resident of Ledyard or Gales Ferry may come to either library building (Bill or Gales Ferry) to sign up for a free library card. Adults will need to show a photo ID and proof of Ledyard or Gales Ferry residence. If your ID includes your current Ledyard or Gales Ferry address, that is all you need. If not, you must also bring a document such as a lease, bill, or official piece of mail that shows your name and current Ledyard or Gales Ferry address. Children younger than 17 need to have a parent/guardian’s signature on their application form.
You can receive a temporary card online by completing this form. Temporary cards can only be used for placing holds. To receive your permanent card, visit either library building (Bill or Gales Ferry) with proper ID.
Your library card is required for borrowing materials in person or online.
Cards expire and must be renewed after four years. New cards and renewals are free, but there is a $1.00 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards. We recommend that you do not loan your card to others; you are responsible for all materials checked out on your card. If your card is lost or stolen, call the library immediately.
