Janice W. Bell Historical Research Room

A historical research room, dedicated to the history of Ledyard and Gales Ferry, is located at the Bill Library. The room, named for Janice W. Bell, the first Town Historian and Archivist, contains photos, diaries, letters, documents, maps, land records, and genealogies pertaining to local families and events.

The Historical Research Room is open most Mondays from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (except on national holidays). Others days are by appointment. Please email research@ledyardhistory.org to make an appointment.

You may also submit a research request via email, mail, or by bringing it to either library building. To do so, please email research@ledyardhistory.org. The Historical Society research volunteers will contact you concerning your inquiry.
